Nandavarika's-I

Nandavariki's are a subsect of Niyogi's. Traditionally, they are not supposed to marry outside their subsect.
There is a legend on the evolution of this subsect.
A king by name 'Nanda'who had yogic powers of astral travel was stranded in Benares because of non function of those powers. Then some Brahmins there helped him out of the fix on the condition that the king provides for them in his King dom in Karnataka.Goddess Choudeswari alone was a witness to this deal. later, the king backs out, but the brahmins prove themselves by bringing in Godess Choudeswari to offer evidence in their favour.The king is convinced and provides for these brahmins in Nandavaram.Since they hail from Nandavaram, they were later known as Nandavariki's

7.Thallapaka Srinivasudu

He belongs to Tallapaka Vamsam but his period is not known. He wrote a Sathakam on Lord Venkateswara

8.Machavarapu Papanna ( Around 1740 A.D.)

He wrote ' Nandavarika charitra'

9. Chintagunta Kodanda Ramayya ( Around 1750-90)

He wrote ' Sunanda Parinayam'. Sunanda was the daughter of Bhimasena.She marries one, Pradeepa.

10. Nandavarapu Parvathavardhana Kavi

He wrote ' Sringara Manjari' in Sanskrit.

11.Kaanadam Peddana Somayaji ( 18th Century)

He was in Gadwal samsthanam.He had a title ' Ubhaya Kavitha Nissahaya Sahithi Vihara'.In the court of China Somadeva Bhoopala, there were six poets who rendered Ramayana in Telugu Prose, each one writing one 'Kanda'.Kanadam poet rendered BaalaKanda.Apart from this , he wrote the story of Nandavariki's by the name'Vipravamsam'

Apart from the above, there are some more poets about whom the information is being gathered.

In addition to above, there are a lot of Nandavariki's who worked as Ministers and rulers. Some of them are,

1.Rayani Bhaskarudu

He was one of the 32 famous ministers. He was a man of great charity. There are a lot of CHATU (Casual) poems on him, which will be given in later blogs.
Similar others are,Guntupalli Konda mantri,Ramalinga Bhaskarud,Thimmana Mantri,Sambana Mantri,Pasumarti Hulkki Mantri,Dammavalam Pullappa pradhani etc.;Guntupalli Vidyala Bhasksrudu S/oMutha mantri was a great magician. He was considered GURU by Vipravinodi's

Nandavarika's - IV

5.Bodducherla Thimmana

He was a famous chess player, a match to Srikrishnadevaraya. He was also a good poet.He wrote' Prasanna Raghavam' drama, and he made 'Sowbharicharitra' into a Yakshaganam.This the first ever drama written in Telugu.

6.Chennamaraju chennamaraju( 17th Century

He lived in 17th century.He wrote 'Charuchandrodayam'. Charuchandra was the son of Krishna

7. Ganapavarapu Venkatakavi( 17th Century)

He was and is still the No 1 poet in Bandha and chitra Kavitvams. They are forms of poetry which are very complicated in con struction.This talent he has exhibited in his book' Prabandharaja Venkateswara Vijayavilasam'. After from this, he wrote around 30 books. Contd Nandavarika-V

Nandavismiarika's - III

Annamayya is believed to be the Avatar of 'Nandaka', the sword in the hand of Lord Vishnu.During the later part of his life, he took to Vaishnavism and became Annamacharya.

2. Thallapaka Thimmakka

She was the elder wife of Annamarstyya. She wrote 'Subhadra Kalyanam' in Dwipada.She is the first known woman writer in Telugu.

3. Others in Thallapaka family

Ther are about 12 poets in Tallapaka family starting from Annamaya.Peda Tirumalayya. the son of Annamayya's second wife was also a poet.He got all Sankeerthana's of Annamayya engraved on Copper Plates, which are available in the Balaji Temple. His son, China Thirumalayya wrote the life History of his Grand father, Annamayya .

4. Allasani Peddana

He wrote ManuCharitra. He was one of 'Ashta Diggajam's' in Srikrishnadevaraya's court and was profusely honoured by the king.A golden anklet(Gandapendera)was adorned to his feet by the king with his own hands. The king used to dismount his elephant to offer Peddana a ride with him.On one occasion he carried Peddana's Palanquin with his hands. Such was the respect commanded by Peddana. The Brahmins prayed to Goddess Chodeswari who appeared before the King and gave evidence in favour of the Brahmins.
The kng realised the greatness of those Brahmins; He got a town by name Nandavaram built in his Kingdom and provided well for the Brahmins.
Since these Brahmins hailed from 'Nandavaram', they were called ' Nandavarika's'

However, there are some great people born into this sect.Let us know briefly about them.

LITERATURE:

1. Annamcharya

The first great poet found in this sect is 'Annamacharya'.He belongs to 15th century. He is not only the firsy Nandavariki poet, but is also the first poet-composer-singer (Vaggeyakara) of Telugu literature.Apart from 32,000 Songs(Samkeerthana's) on Tirupati Venkateswara, He wrote books like Venkateswra Sathaka and a theory book Sankeerthana Lakshanam.The famous and dear Lullabies like 'Chandamama Rave' and 'Jo Achyuthananda' were also his compositions

Beyond the words, their dictionary meanings,implied meanings etc., the combonation of words, unmindful of their distinctive meanings, should create a mood; A mood into which the reader or the listener in case of a filmy song, is unconsciously transported.
all these ideas rushed into my mind as I was listening to the songs of the film 'Sitakokachiluka',a film heroed and heroined by two amatures,while the songs make an indelible imprint on the hearts of the listeners,esp., the 2 songs,Ninnatisuridu.

I have a picture of Monalisa taped to my cupboard. As I look at it, I always wonder why her smile has gained such a great fame. The smile, even by a very generous assessment, is a cold and frosty one , if not calculating and scheming.

కొమ్మల్లో చిక్కువడ్డ గాలిపటంగాలి నడకల్లో గంధర్వ నాట్యం వినలేదు
ప్రత్యూషపు జలతారు కిరణాల్లో తలారా తడవలేదు
అగరు పొగలా కమ్ముకునే విహంగాల వెల్వెట్ రాగాల స్పర్శే తెలీదు
భూమికి పచ్చబొట్లు పొడిచేవర్షం సూదుల వయ్యారం గిలిగింతలు పెట్టదు.
ఓ పక్క
ఋతువులు బిడారుల్లా దాటుకుని పోతూంటాయి
ఆకాశంలో నీలిమ ఎడారిలా మేటవేస్తుంది
సూర్యచంద్రులు సెంట్రీల్లా డ్యూటీలు మారుతూంటారు
కాలం అడుగుల చప్పుడు కవాతులా వినిపిస్తూంటుంది.

అయినా
కొమ్మల్లో జీవితం
కొండరాయిలా పడివుంటుంది

వర్షంలో తడిసి ఆరిన ఆకాశం

కలకాలం నిలిచే కథల సంపుటి
కొన్ని కథలు ఎంత బాగున్నా చదివినంతసేపే బుర్రలో ఉంటాయ్.ఆ తర్వాత చచ్చినా గుర్తుకు రావు.ఇంకొన్ని కథలు ఒకటికి రెండు సార్లు చదవాల్సి వస్తుంది.కాని అవి కొన్ని ఏళ్ల తర్వాత గూడా సినిమా రీళ్లలా గిర్రున తిరుగుతుంటాయి.దాదాపు నాలుగు దశాబ్దాలుగా పాఠకులకు నిశాపతి గా పరిచయమైన ఎం.హెచ్.వి.సుబ్బారావు వృత్తిరీత్యా ఇంజినీరే అయినా ప్రవృత్తి రీత్యా చక్కటి కథకులు.కవితాత్మకమైన శైలి,హాస్యం,సరసం,వ్యంగ్యం,సెంటిమెంట్,ఆర్ద్రత,భావుకత ఈకథల్లోంచి తొంగిచూస్తుంటాయి.అందుకే కాబోలు రాజుల కాలం నాడు నిర్మించినా చెక్కుచెదరని కోటబురుజుల్లా పటిష్టంగా, పదిలంగా నిలిచే కథలు అనేకం తనఖాతాలో జమ చేసుకోగలిగారు.మానవసంబంధాలు,బంధుత్వాలు,ప్రేమ,అనురాగం,ఆప్యాయత,మమతానుబంధాలనే ప్లాట్లుగా చేసుకుని చిక్కటి కథనాన్ని చక్కటి వాక్యాల్లో అల్లి,ఆరోగ్యకరమైన హాస్యాన్ని,బిగువైన లాజిక్కును,వస్తువైవిధ్యాన్ని దానికి జతచేసిరెండు మూడు తరాల పాఠకుల్ని తన అభిమానులుగా చేసుకున్నారీ ఇంజినీరు.కాంతికిరణం ఆయన మూడో సంపుటం.ఇందులో ఇరవై కథలున్నాయి...వీటన్నింటిలో అతృతగా,ఆబగా చదివించే గుణం వుంది.ఈ సంపుటానికి మకుటంగా ఎన్నుకున్న కథ ' కాంతికిరణం ' నిజంగానే మకుటాయమానమైనదైతే , ' నేతిగిన్నె ' కథల నిండా కమ్మదనాన్ని గిన్నెతో దిమ్మరించింది.' గోపాలబాలా నిన్నే కోరీ... ' హాస్యాన్నినింపింది.' పూచికముల్లు ' చేపముల్లులా గొంతులో ఇరుక్కుపోయి కూచుంది.' గోలీసో డా ' సరదాగా సాగుతూనే సెంటిమెంట్ తో చంపేస్తుంది.' హీనజన్మ ' పశుపక్ష్యాదుల కన్నామనమెంత హీనంగా బతకాలనుకుంటున్నామో,బతుకుతున్నామో,పావురాల రెక్కలతో చాటి చెబుతుంది. ' ఈపాపం ఎవరిది ' రైతుల జీవితాలతో ప్రకృతి,ప్రభుత్వాలు ఆడుకుంటున్న తీరును గుర్తుచేసి చురుక్కుమని గుచ్చుతుంది.' బోర్డింగ్ పాస్ ' కోరికలు పురివిప్పుకునేలా చేస్తుంది.ఇంకా వీటిని గురించి చెప్పడం వృథా ప్రయాస.అయినా చెప్పక తప్పని విషయమేమంటే అది మునిపల్లె రాజు ముందుమాట.అదే వీటిని ఆత్మీయంగా,ఆప్యాయంగా చదివేలా చేస్తుంది.ఈ కథల కాంతికిరణంతో మనసు నింపుకోడానికి ఇంకెందుకాలస్యం? Planetarium

Today i saw Birla planetarium.
What they showed there is the most elementary information about stars.They no longer show the planets in the planetarium,as they used to.
Do they not have a moral obligation to publicise the change in the content? Is it not simple cheating?
Furthermore , I could not locate a site of their own in the internet .whatever information we get from general Hyd tour and hotel establshment sites is all that is availble for us.
